This summer, I'm looking to challenge myself a bit.

At the age of 22, I'll be finally getting my license over the summer, so I'm challenging my driving anxiety. I'm working at an internship this summer, so I am also challenging myself professionally. However, I also want to challenge myself religiously by starting the Holy 40 Challenge!

What is the Holy 40 Challenge?

The Holy 40 Challenge is a challenge done by people all across the world, created by popular Christian influencer Ashley Hetherington. It is a challenge designed to help practice self-discipline and healthy habits while staying on fire for Jesus!

Here's what the challenge rules are:

  • Wake up before 8 AM. I don't know about y'all, but I am not a morning person in the slightest! I hope and pray that this challenge will make me become that morning person, and help me become a Proverbs 31 woman.

  • Spend time with Jesus the 1st hour of the day. This can be through any avenue, such as reading your Bible, worshipping, praying, or other ways. The first hour of my day, at least on work days, is spent getting ready for work. However, while I get ready for work, I will listen to worship music or a podcast. I personally have been loving the Saved not Soft podcast from Emy Moore lately. She speaks absolutely nothing but realistic, Biblical truth, and she is so full of wisdom! On weekends, I will either spend time with the Lord listening to worship music or reading my Bible.

  • Move body daily for 30 minutes. Thankfully, I'll be getting a gym membership soon, so I'll be able to go to a gym to do this task! But for now, I will be doing workouts at home. I'm trying to find some dance or cardio workouts that have Christian music in the background.

  • Dedicate 1 hour a day to a God-sized dream/goal. My God-sized goal is to try to help other women find themselves in Christ through my blog! So for one hour each day, I will work on content for my blog, chatting with y'all on stories, maybe even doing livestreams here and there if you all are interested!

  • Prayer walk for 15 minutes. I love prayer walking (check out my post about Holy Girl Walks if you haven't already), so this will be great for me to get closer to God while walking to take care of my body.

  • Nourish your body with healthy, whole foods. This one will be difficult for me. Not because I don't like healthy food, but because I live in a state full of unhealthy, not so good for you foods! However, I have been scouring Pinterest for healthy and delicious recipes that could be copycats of the not so good for you things. Now, this doesn't mean I'll be fasting from sugar this entire time. However, I want to eat healthier because the Bible tells us that we need to treat our bodies as temples, and through exercise and proper diet, we can treat God's creation properly!

  • Journal what God teaches you. I already love to prayer journal, so this will be awesome for me to do too!

My Reflections and Hopes for this Challenge

Overall, I hope and pray that this challenge encourages me to be more disciplined with myself. Having ADHD, I've always kinda struggled with practicing self-discipline. However, by having God as my motivation throughout this journey, I pray that I will be able to complete this challenge!
